I find weekends freeing – I think “I can do whatever work I like, and no-one expects a reply to their emails”. So *I* don’t think you’re crazy. Not even a little bit!

I tend to default to working if nothing else is going on … which prompts me to be a bit more organised in trying to arrange things

Yeah, I can’t write well if there’s a lot going on around me. If I *have* to, I can, but it takes a lot more energy than writing when I’m in a room on my own.

Thanks for your congrats! I enjoy working on big projects — it’s great to write blog posts, but it’s sometimes really good to be able to put together something much bigger.

Hallelujah to that Ali! Weekends are my prime time for getting actual freelance work done outside of my normal job. It’s the only moments where I can sit in peace, take my time, and get what I need completed. Some people write better in a more busy environment but I’ve always been kind of a quiet writer myself. To each their own.

Ah, the flexible life of the freelancer! Today I unexpectedly had lunch with my daughter and browsed in a store afterwards. To make up for lost time, I’ll work late into the evening tonight. However, you can’t beat it–I love being able to take a break on the spur of the moment. Conversely, on Saturday I declared that I was not going to work at all, a rarity for me. Went to a literary festival, watched football, and read. A glorious day.
