My BlogWorld Session: Four Simple Steps for Editing Your Own Writing

by Ali on July 13, 2012

Last month, I had a wonderful time at BlogWorld in New York. I spoke on Four Simple Steps for Editing Your Own Writing and had some great feedback from attendees.

If you struggle a bit with editing, or if you’re not quite sure where to begin, I hope you’ll find the presentation useful too. :-)

Watch the Video (Slideshow Plus Audio)

Click this link to watch the video (or right-click to download it).

Listen to the Audio

If you prefer to just get the audio, you can listen to it here (or right-click to download it).

Note that, ideally, you’ll also want to download the slides so you can follow along.

Download the Slides

You can download my slides by right-clicking here. (They’re in PowerPoint, ppt, format.)

The above video is only one of over 100 recorded sessions from BlogWorld & New Media Expo New York 2012. You can get all of the videos – plus bonus interviews and other bonus content by picking up the entire Virtual Ticket here.

Thanks, Ehsan. I don’t think BlogWorld (now New Media Expo) will be putting the videos on YouTube — they sell a Virtual Ticket which includes them all. I put a link in the post to the Virtual Ticket. :-)

Speakers are allowed to repost their own videos on their own sites, though, so if there’s a particular one you want to watch, you might look to see if that speaker has reposted it.

Thanks so much for this presentation. Editing is definitely one of the area I struggle with, and this gives me some light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi, Ali

I enjoyed the video and believe being able to edit for yourself is extremely important. We as writers all make mistakes and can improve no matter what level in our writing we’re on.

I made a 5-step post for wirters on my blog about self editing your novel and here’s the link if you want to check it out.

Thanks so much for the post as I found it very helpful.

Thanks Shaquandra! Very glad to hear this was helpful. :-) And that’s a great post on self-editing … I completely agree with you (as you can probably tell from the video…) on getting the big picture right first, and dealing with typos etc last. :-)
